Title: The HRT conjecture
In this talk I will introduce the HRT conjecture stated by C. Heil, J. Ramanathan, and P. Topiwala in the 90s and which asks whether the collection of finitely many time - frequency shifts of a non-zero square integrable function are linearly independent. Despite the simplicity of its statement, little is known about the conjecture in its generality. I will review some of the known results and will describe a recent approach I have introduced to investigate this problem.
